“MY SPECIAL DESSERT-2013”

The Association of Hospitality Professionals (AHP) is a voluntary organization bringing all the hospitality professionals under one roof. AHP organizes various events & competitions for both students & the professionals. The much awaited cookery competition “My Special Dessert - 2013” was held on Monday, 4th February 2013 at Indian Hotel Academy, New Delhi. This was the third culinary competition after the remarkable success of “Biryani Gourmet -2011” and “Gateau Gourmet -2012” organised by AHP.

The event highlighted the young culinary professionals from major hotels like The Leela Palace, New Delhi, Radisson Blu Ghaziabad, The Leela Kempenski Gurgaon, Jaypee Vasant Continental, New Delhi, The Grand, New Delhi, Vivanta By Taj Ambassador, Jaypee Siddhartha, Old World Hospitality gathering in one place to show off their culinary talent — in a competition-style. The participants form eleven five star hotels from Delhi and NCR tried their best to impress a panel of judges with their ultimate dish of deliciousness.

 

The judging panel consisted of Chef Satinder Vir Dua ( Executive Chef – The Ashok) and Chef Pankaj Sharma (Executive Sous Chef – The Lodhi). The judges were looking for the winning dish to impress on creativity, taste, presentation skills, mis-en-place and proper utilization of ingredients.

Mr. Shreesh Saxena (Vice President Operations ITDC & GM The Ashok) a special invitee said “It is great to see that a competition of this standard is held in Delhi. More such competitions should be held in the future as the chefs will have a sense of achievement, motivation and it is a platform for them to exhibit their talent”.

The judges had a tough time as contestants showed off their best culinary artistic skills.

The winner of “My Special Dessert-2013” competition was Mr. Deep Chandra Dani from Radisson Blu, Ghaziabad, Second prize went to Mr. Deshraj from The Leela Kempenski Gurgaon and the third prize was bagged by Ms. Linda Konghay from The Leela Palace, New Delhi.

The participants gave their opinion that the competition has definitely benefited them by giving them an opportunity to network and gain new ideas from the industry experts. They also considered it to be a good platform for exhibiting their skills and talents.
